AIX-MARSEILLE FRENCH TECH’S 12 COMMITMENTS FOR 2015
In order for a territory to earn the “French Tech” label, it must commit to implement measures that are going to stimulate services offered to startups.
Currently in an experimental phase until the end of the year, Aix-Marseille French Tech has to implement the actions set forth in the roadmap. These actions will service as the basis of the government evaluation, which awards the label for a period of 3 years.
Thus, there are 12 operational commitments set up for the end of 2015, which the Medinsoft association is in charge of pushing forward.
André Jeannerot, president of Medinsoft, stresses that the French Tech is an economic project that relies on growth enablers, among which the five cornerstones must be implemented and developed :
1) SET UP OF TERRITORIAL GOVERNING FOR THE AIX-MARSEILLE FRENCH TECH
This is done through the establishment of the Territorial Council for Digital Technology, which ensures strategic governing.
This collegiate organization is made up of 49 members, 31 of which are based in the private sector, and among them are nine Tech Champion project heads.
As for Medinsoft, it is in charge of the operational governance.
2/ REINFORCEMENT OF FAB LAB EQUIPEMENT AT CENTRALE – MARSEILLE
This Fab Lab, or societal lab, is already operational and offers an innovative training program for digital technology careers aimed at young people coming from priority neighborhoods who have difficultly entering the professional workforce.
24 candidates were selected and make up the first promotion.
3/ OPENING OF THE INNOVATION CROSSROADS IN AIX-EN-PROVENCE
A space for digital technology experimentation with a co-working area, a meeting and activity space, a space for demonstrations and tests (showroom), a welcome area for company creators (startup nursery) and a Fab Lab.
An experimentation and usage platform dedicated to understanding Connected and Contactless Objects (RFID, NFC…), which was inaugurated on June 19th in Rousset by the National Reference Center for RFID.
5/ LAUNCH OF MOTION CAPTURE STUDIO – THE STUDIO MOCAP – CREATED BY THE TELFRANCE GROUP
New flagship of imaging techniques at the heart of the Belle de Mai Media Cluster, this studio should be operational starting in the summer of 2015.
It will be operated by the Studios de Marseille, a company specializing in the sector of post-production of cinematic films, videos, and televisions programs.
6/ P.FACTORY ACCELERATOR
Operational since September of 2014, the startup accelerator P.Factory, launched by Bertrand Bigay and Patrick Siri, already has a roster of more than 24 accelerated startups, with great successes on the horizon.
7/ “STARTUP STUDIO” ACCELERATOR AT NETANGELS
14 startups undergoing acceleration.
8/ “NFC FACTORY” ACCELERATOR AT GEMALTO
Accelerator specializing in contactless services.
9/ IMPLEMENTATION OF STARDUST PROJECT
Based on a selection process, Stardust offers to host for a 3-month period the project heads of mobile applications, websites, and connected objects in order to support them through their testing phases.
10/ “CHAMPION COMPANIES” PROGRAM
Establishment of fundraising for companies with big potential.
11/ “FOREIGN ACTIONS” PROGRAM
Promotion of the Provençal ecosystem in foreign markets.
12/ “ATTRACTING TALENT” PROGRAM
The objective is to seek out residents in France or aboard who are considering building their company within the Aix-Marseille French Tech boundary and who want to invest in or join a local project or team.
